Proficiency Testing
Proficiency testing (PT) determines the performance of individual laboratories for specific tests or measurements and is used to monitor laboratories’ continuing performance.
In a proficiency test, stable and homogenous sample(s) are sent out to participating laboratories. Each laboratory conducts the analysis as per its normal procedures and the instructions accompanying the sample(s).
The results reported by each laboratory for a measure and are compared to the reference value for that measure and. The reference value can be determined in various ways. The two most common ways are to use a reference laboratory or use the average of the values reported by the participants.
Reports are circulated to the participating laboratories including the evaluation of their performance usually in a form of score. z-score, zeta-score, and En value are some of the commonly used scores.

In our efforts to provide integrated and comprehensive services to our customers to comply with their accreditation requirements, Target Laboratory Systems organizes and manages Proficiency Tests (PTs) schemes in as many scopes as required by our customers. All our PT services are complying with ISO/IEC 17043 requirements.

Target LS PT process
Target LS uses accredited laboratories only as subcontractors. In rare cases, if accredited laboratories are not available, Target LS maintains full responsibility of the quality of test material provided as well as the quality of results produced.
Target LS uses z-scores to evaluate the performance of the participating laboratories. All information and interpretation tips are included in the PT reports.
